We are delighted to announce a new Ceramics Fair at Blackwell – the Arts & Crafts house.

Ceramics have long been part of Blackwell’s story. From the historic work found throughout the house to the contemporary makers we have championed through exhibitions, events and our retail programme, Blackwell has an enduring connection with clay, craft and making.

For 2027, we’re building on that relationship with a dedicated fair celebrating contemporary ceramics.

Set within Blackwell’s extraordinary Arts & Crafts interiors, overlooking Windermere and just a five-minute drive from Bowness-on-Windermere, the fair will bring together a carefully selected group of ceramicists working across a range of styles, techniques and approaches.

We’re inviting applications from established and emerging makers from across Cumbria, the UK and internationally.

Key dates

Ceramics Fair: Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 March 2027
Applications Open: Monday 14 September 2026
Application Deadline: Friday 16 October 2026

What is the Blackwell Ceramics Fair?

The Blackwell Ceramics Fair is a new event dedicated to contemporary ceramics, bringing makers and audiences together in a setting with craftsmanship at its heart.

Designed by architect Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott, Blackwell is one of Britain’s finest Arts & Crafts houses. Its interiors celebrate skilled making, beautiful materials and thoughtful design, making it a natural home for a fair devoted to ceramics.

Stalls will be positioned throughout the house, allowing visitors to discover work within Blackwell’s intimate interiors, meet makers and buy directly from them.

Why take part?

Blackwell has championed makers and contemporary craft for many years, with ceramics holding a particularly important place in our programme.

As a participating maker, you will benefit from:

  • The opportunity to showcase and sell your work in an exceptional Arts & Crafts setting.
  • An engaged audience with a strong interest in ceramics, craft, art and design.
  • Promotion through Lakeland Arts’ digital channels and on-site marketing.
  • The opportunity to be part of a carefully curated new event celebrating the breadth and quality of contemporary ceramics.

Spaces will be limited to create a distinctive, high-quality experience for both makers and visitors.

If you’d like to be part of the first Blackwell Ceramics Fair, we’d love to hear from you.
