Communities

As we celebrate culture and creativity, fantastic work has been going on across Cumbria in a variety of communities who may not always have the means to come to our locations. Some of this work may go on unnoticed, but we know the major impact that coming together through creativity can have and though the pandemic has paused many of our projects we have still been able to put together an exhibition of our latest community work.

We are also currently exploring and finding ways to keep in touch and active safely within the community during COVID-19 and have some exciting ideas coming into fruition.

If you are interested in knowing more about our work on site or off site, or want to partner with us on future projects listed below, then please get in touch.

MEND

The act of making is the act of mending and repair. Making mends objects, minds, communities, and hearts. At the centre of the MEND project is a collaborative repairing of all of those things, with and in communities. Through the sharing of skills and practices, along with conversation and enjoyment, the MEND makers will build new and lasting partnerships with the people who have made Cumbria a contemporary place to live and thrive.

The MEND project will work with communities across Cumbria to explore the meaning of mending through a series of conversations, creative workshops, and skill-sharing sessions, delivered both in-person and online. The MEND makers will find new connections and partnerships with each other as both participants and practitioners will reflect on this both turbulent and transformative era.
