Collections Object Of The Week, will be exploring some gems we have found during our ongoing audit of the Photographic Collection. The museum cares for a wide range of photographs, from historic images of steamboats to snaps of people having fun on the lake.
This wonderful photograph shows a corgi called ‘Teddy’. He is doing an excellent job of posing on a boat, and we think this is a self-drive hire boat. These wooden vessels would have been available for visitors to rent for a jaunt out on the lake for most of the twentieth century. We’re not exactly certain when Teddy took to the water but a note on the back of the picture helpfully records that he was two and a half years old at the time.
