Each of our venues offers exciting ways for students to explore, learn and take inspiration from our unique collections. Students will gain new knowledge and skills to support their learning across a range of curricula through cultural experiences that bring the stories of Lakeland’s past and present to life.
Visiting
Our sites can cater for a variety of groups sizes. You can bring your pupils and students to any of our sites, all we ask is that you let us know by filling out the booking form or contact learning@lakelandarts.org.uk. We have spaces at Abbot Hall, Blackwell and Windermere Jetty Museum which can be booked for lunches. Windermere Jetty Museum also has a number of picnic areas with spectacular surrounding scenery.
Workshops
Workshops at Windermere Jetty Museum
We offer the following:
- Full day workshop (10am-2pm) which includes a self-led tour, heritage boat trip and creative workshop led by a member from the learning team. This is £16 per child.
- Self-led visit with Boat trip and Launch Into It resource to use during your visit. This option is £13.50 per child.
- Self-guided visit around Windermere Jetty Museum and access to Launch Into It resource for £7.50 per child.
With all visits we can offer indoor and outdoor spaces for students to have their packed lunch. Launch Into It is an interactive self-led activity inspired by our collection aimed at KS1 and KS2 pupils.
Workshops at Blackwell – the Arts & Crafts house
School visit options at Blackwell:
- Self-led tour around Blackwell for £4.50 per child.
- Facilitated visit which includes self-led tour and creative workshop led by a member from the learning team is £10 per child.
We can offer both indoor and outdoor areas for students to have their lunch.

We can offer both indoor and outdoor spaces for students to have their lunch. We also provide a gallery resource created by artist Lela Harris for all school visits.

Projects
Our participation and learning team undertake various bespoke creative projects in partnerships with schools and colleges throughout the academic year.
We feel strongly that a programme of opportunities which seeks to enhance and extend the experiences, skills and understanding of both staff and students about arts, culture and creativity will transform the creative life of the whole school community.

Curate with us
Sometimes we don’t always have exactly what you need. So we offer a selection of ‘curate with us’ projects. These are bespoke projects working with a limited number of schools on specific collection of theme based projects. If you want to get involved with one of these projects please get in touch.
