Swallows and Amazons 50th Anniversary

Join us for a fun-filled weekend celebrating Swallows and Amazons, with Arthur Ransome inspired activities, music, memorabilia and the original 1974 film available to view, suitable for the whole family.

This event is organised by The Arthur Ransome Society.

Saturday 

10.30am Film screening of  Swallows and Amazons (90 mins).

12.15pm Talk (20 mins)– Peter Wright: How Ransome came to write Swallows and Amazons.                                                

12.45pm  Film screening (second showing) of Swallows and Amazons (90 mins).

2.30pm Meet the original cast and crew  (introduced by John Sergeant).

3pm Talk with original cast member Sophie Neville: memories and secrets of making the film.

3.45pm “Don’t Forget Your Old Shipmates” – Folk Concert. Greg Stephens and the Boatband take a loving look at the music in Arthur Ransome’s books. Join them for a singalong!

5pm Final screening of Swallows and Amazons for the day.

6.30pm End of day one of Swallows and Amazons 50th Anniversary celebration.
