Don’t miss this wonderful event. For two days 5-6 March, Blackwell – the Arts & Crafts house, will be home to talented contemporary craft makers displaying their handmade jewellery, textiles, ceramics, glass and wooden wares at the Spring Craft Fair.
This is the first Spring Craft Fair at Blackwell and builds on the success the Autumn Craft Fair which has been running since 2019. Artists exhibiting at the event include Jan Huntley Peace who works primarily in porcelain, Josh Hill Furniture, The Woolly Rug Co., printmaker Polly Marix Evans, textiles from Karen Bond, Nicholas Hobbs Furniture, Isabella Lepri Ceramics and Lakeland Stitch. The cosy tea room is open across the weekend offering a range of refreshments.
One of Britain’s must see historic houses, Blackwell – the Arts & Crafts house is just outside Bowness-on-Windermere town. It was designed by architect Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott as a Lake District rural holiday retreat for the Manchester brewery owner, Sir Edward Holt. Today the period rooms are carefully furnished with a blend of Arts & Crafts furniture and contemporary handcrafted pieces. A permanent exhibition explores the works of the Arts & Crafts Movements and there is a complementary programme of temporary arts exhibitions. It is the perfect setting to discover makers at the craft fair.
The Spring Craft Fair at Blackwell runs Saturday 5 March & Sunday 6 March 10am – 4pm. Entry is £6 per adult and includes full access to the house, entry is free for Lakeland Arts Members. Pre-booking is highly recommended as it is a popular event. Walk-ins are welcome where space is available.
