We know some visitors have questions about our summer parking arrangements at Windermere Jetty Museum, so we wanted to provide some further information about our seasonal parking charges and how they support our work.
Windermere Jetty Museum is part of Lakeland Arts, a charity dedicated to caring for Cumbria’s heritage and creating opportunities for people to connect with history, art and learning.
Income generated through visits, our café, retail, events and parking all contribute towards supporting the work we do, including caring for our nationally important boat collection, maintaining our historic lakeside site, delivering school visits and learning programmes, and working with communities across the region.
Seasonal summer parking charges
Our seasonal summer parking charges were introduced during the peak holiday period in 2025 and are continuing during the busy summer period this year.
The summer holidays are one of our busiest times, and our car park has limited capacity. Seasonal parking charges help us manage demand and ensure we can provide a well-maintained and accessible parking facility for visitors, while also generating income that supports the museum and the wider charitable work of Lakeland Arts.
Our summer parking charges are:
- Up to 2 hours: £5
- 2–4 hours: £7
- End of day: £12
Off-peak parking offer
During the summer charging period, our usual offer of 4 hours complimentary parking when spending £5 or more in the café or museum is temporarily paused.
This offer will return from Monday 31 August, when our standard parking arrangements resume.
Lakeland Arts Members continue to enjoy 4 hours free parking all year round.
