In the summer of 2022, Rayan Elnayal and Heba Tabidi from Space Black, joined us to host a week of workshops in the Learning Centre at Windermere Jetty Museum.
The workshops formed part of our ‘Say to Something’ family summer holiday programme in August, which was part of a a call-out from our Participation and Learning team and Ian Read, Head of Engagement and Content for workshops from diverse voices.
Space Black is a London-based art, architecture and engineering collective of young designers. They create and celebrate human-centred designs that accommodate for the needs and perceptions of marginalised commutes to promote their well-being and happiness.
Their week of workshops included Art of collaging – digital and analogue college techniques; My Utopia – sketching, drawing and collage to build a model utopia; Urban Design/Mapping – a collective project to work together creating a large mixed media map following a walk around the site; Biomimicry: Architecture – learning about biomimicry design and opportunity to build a small scale pavilion; and Biomimicry: Engineering – biomimicry in engineering, then build models be tested against applied forces.
The workshops were well attended and a great success!
We also took the opportunity to film a short interview with them, watch it below.
