In 2001 Blackwell showed the wonderful work of Dame Professor Magdalene Odundo DBE in its opening year! Today we have two works on loan from Odundo that you can see at Blackwell.
Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Odundo was educated in India and Kenya. She came to Britain in the early 1970s expecting to pursue a career in advertising following study at Cambridge School of Art but discovered a love for clay through a pottery class. Over the decades, Odundo has established herself as an internationally acclaimed sculptor and ceramicist, who is influenced by the ancient world, East Africa and the human form.
