We’re excited to announce that Windermere Jetty Museum will reopen its lakeshore café on Friday 17 July, more than three months after closing due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The café and its large shoreline terrace will be open between 10am-5pm and is a 10-minute walk from Bowness town centre. With superb panoramic views across Windermere towards the Coniston Fells, it is the perfect place to rest, relax and appreciate Lakeland at its best.
The café reopens with a new summer menu using the best local ingredients and a new takeaway service to make the most of the idyllic setting. Online booking will open next week for anyone looking to sit indoors with free parking for café customers.
Chief Executive Rhian Harris said: “We are thrilled to reopen our lakeshore café at Windermere Jetty Museum following months of closure and we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors again over the coming weeks.
“We’re keeping a close eye on government advice to ensure the safety of our visitors on their return. We have introduced table reservations in our café in line with the national guidance, as well as sanitiser stations and enhanced cleaning regimes, new social distancing measures and one-way systems.
We will continuously review our measures in line with national and local guidelines are grateful for our visitors’ patience as we make these essential changes.”
Car parking is also available on site making it easy to reach us. We ask visitors to check opening dates and times before visiting site by visitor our website.
Ahead of reopening, the museum will launch a new website (windermerejetty.org), following a rebrand of Lakeland Arts and its cultural venues, formally Blackwell, The Arts & Craft House, Abbot Hall Art Gallery and The Museum of Lakeland Life & Industry. The website brings together all of Lakeland Arts’ cultural and heritage venues under one platform and features a bold new design, digital access to collections and exhibitions at home, enhanced events pages for planning your day by the lake and streamlined ticketing options.
